Ashtanga Yoga & Mysore Self Practice
Ashtanga yoga practice is a series of set sequences of postures created by the late Pattabhi Jois. There are 6 series altogether. It comes from a long lineage of ancient yoga wisdom and is ideal for those who wish to develop or deepen their own/home 'regular' yoga practice. The practice incorporates Vinyasa (movement with the breath) to maintain heat in the body and to link postures together. It's designed to take the practitioner through gradually, stopping at the first unachieveable posture and then moving onto the finishing sequence consisting of backbends and inversions.

I teach the first series (Primary series) from the beginning to mid way through and into the finishing sequence. Once the student has learned the basics they can be left to practise at their own pace. This is known as Mysore self practice. The class is intended as a shared space for guided and self practice with adjustments. It exists as a weekly check in to help maintain motivation and development of your home practice. Beginners are welcome and more experienced Ashtanga practitioners are welcome to share the communal space. Map.
